* Call to Worship: 1 Chronicles 16:8-10

Silent Confession of Sin

Corporate Prayer and Confession: Adapted from Romans 3:9-21

LORD, we confess the truth of Your Word that we all, whether Jews or Greeks, are under sin. None of us is righteous, not one. None of us can be called good, not one. We, with the rest of humanity, are guilty of turning aside from You so that we are worthless in ourselves - and without You working first in us, none of us would seek you. Yet we thank you, Father, that you have called us, that you have caused us to seek You, and that You have given us the righteousness that makes us worthy to live forever in Your presence , through Your Son, Jesus Christ.

Promise of Forgiveness:                                                                             Romans 3:23-24

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.”

*Hymn of Encouragement           “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us”

How Deep the Father’s Love

Stuart Townend

How deep the Father’s love for us,

How vast beyond all measure,

That He should give His only Son

To make a wretch His treasure.

How great the pain of searing loss –

The Father turns His face away,

As wounds which mar the Chosen One

Bring many sons to glory.

Behold the man upon a cross,

My sin upon His shoulders;

Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice

Call out among the scoffers.

It was my sin that held Him there

Until it was accomplished;

His dying breath has brought me life –

I know that it is finished.

I will not boast in anything,

No gifts, no power, no wisdom;

But I will boast in Jesus Christ,

His death and resurrection.

Why should I gain from His reward?

I cannot give an answer;

But this I know with all my heart –

His wounds have paid my ransom.

Confession of Faith: The Apostle’s Creed

Leader: Christian, what do you believe?”

Congregation: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;

And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
